SupelMIP™ Beta Blocker

- A class selective SPE sorbent for multi-residue extraction of beta-blockers in water and biological samples.

Background

Beta blockers, also called beta receptor antagonists, are an important class of anti-hypertensive and cardio arrhythmic drugs. For clinical, veterinary and environmental monitoring a highly selective and sensitive method for the simultaneous determination of several beta blockers is required. Using the SupelMIP™ Beta Blocker MIP an easy, effective and selective extraction of the beta blocker class is obtained.

Features and applications

At extremely low limits of detection and quantification a broad spectrum of Beta blockers in biological samples can be extracted with the SupelMIP™ Beta blocker product. The SupelMIP™ is class selective towards e.g. atenolol, betaxolol, carazolol, pindolol, propranolol, sotalolol, timolol, metoprolol and others.

Using the molecularly imprinted SPE, the extraction procedure is considerably simplified so that quantitation of beta blockers in these types of samples is faster, more robust and at ultimately lower cost. There is little or no loss of sensitivity in LC-MS/MS due to ion suppression and contamination of the interface.

It is also possible to use the SupelMIP™ Beta blocker columns in automated solid-phase extraction systems. Application notes for extraction of Beta-blockers from water urine and plasma with LC-MS detection are available.

More information about SupelMIP™ Beta blocker product can be found in the Product Bulletin.
Recoveries together with chromatograms and the SPE procedure are given in the Data Sheet. For further reading we also refer to the literature list below.
