Welcome to issue #6 of MIP Technologies Newsletter.
In this issue you can read about new SupelMIP developments. We present validation results on Chloramphenicol extraction from milk made by Nestlé and Chloramphenicol extraction from plasma performed by Evira (the Finnish Food Safety Authority). A new SupelMIP selective for four different tobacco-specific nitrosamines is also described.
You can also read about some examples of MIPs for process scale purifications.
MIP Technologies will be at Prep2007 and Extech in the beginning of June. If you will attend don't miss the opportunity to meet us and / or participate at our workshop.
I hope you will enjoy the reading!

SupelMIP™ SPE-Chloramphenicol - Method validated for plasma and milk extractions
Nestlé has validated the SupelMIP™ Chloramphenicol cartridges for extraction of Chloramphenicol from various milk samples and Evira, the Finnish food safety authority has validated the SupelMIP cartridges for extraction of Chloramphenicol from plasma.
Using the SupelMIP™ SPE-Chloramphenicol resulted in a higher sample throughput, higher recoveries and the presence of interfering compounds in the final extract was significantly reduced. The cleaness of the extracts also results in reduced instrument maintenance.

A new SPE product for the selective extraction of TSNAs (Tobacco specific nitrosamines)
The SupelMIP™ TSNAs is a class-selective SPE sorbent for simultaneous extraction of the four different Tobacco Specific Nitrosamines: NNK, NNN, NAB and NAT. Current extraction methods are elaborate, time consuming and require high sample volumes. Using the SupelMIP™ TSNAs the sample handling time is reduced to less than 2 hours.

MIPs for process scale solutions
MIPs are not only suited for analytical applications, but can also be used for preparative and process scale selective separations, where they can remove unwanted contaminants or extract high value desirables from process solutions, resulting in more efficient production and cleaner products.

MIP Technologies is a world leading company in the development of molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs). The Company is a pioneer in the commercial applications of MIPs, holds important patents and maintains cutting edge research activities in the area. The Company's mission is to provide innovative products based on molecularly imprinted polymers that serve industry's needs in analytical, preparative and process scale 'selective separations'. The Company has environmental permission to produce MIP phases at the 500 kg level and is well placed to develop large scale separation solutions for its customers. Currently the Company markets and sell analytical separation products (e.g. SPE) via Sigma-Aldrich and has multiple custom process scale projects in place with several blue chip companies. MIP Technologies has its headquarters in Lund, Sweden. www.miptechnologies.com
